Tired of Blogger's POS system

I'm getting fed up. I hate Blogger's stupid interface to edit posts. It's HTML editor sucks and if you create your HTML in a real editor and then paste it in, it goes all wonky with formatting and white space issues, i.e. putting in fracking line breaks where I don't want them! RRRAAAAGGGGEE!

My domain is fully hosted, so I could install a copy of WordPress and run it entirely on my own site. But would that screw up any rankings or crap with Google? And if I did that, wouldn't it completely fuck up links to posts and comments and shit?

What a frigging pain in my arse. I'm probably too lazy to mess with it anyway :-P

[Edit] And it fracking uploads every goddamn page to my ftp server when I make a post (or edit a post). All the archive pages, all the tag pages (even the ones for tags that I didn't tag in my post). This is becoming a royal PITA.

AFAIK, there's probably an easy way to convert a blogger installation to wordpress. I don't know any specifics, but I'm sure there's a way to do it.

And there's a wordpress plugin that generates a sitemap.xml based on your posts, so that should keep your Google rankings up.

And you can also configure your apache installation using mod_rewrite to save your links/comments/etc

:-PPPP What a PITA. I have shell access with my hosting company (they run Debian!), but I don't think I can configure Apache. I'll take a look.

Apache's pretty each to work with, and there's all sorts of tutorials online regarding mod_rewrite. Just be sure to set your permissions on your .htaccess files.

...OMG, I thought the funky whitespace that shows up whenever I try to post ASCII art on Blogger was a problem with my coding, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out where I was going wrong!!!

I'm seriously considering switching to WordPress. I've got it installed on another domain I own and am playing with it. It's a lot of work to switch, but I'm tired of messing with blogger.
